A free wedding budget calculator and tracker

A wedding budget is the single most useful tool for a stress free planning journey, and it is the first thing that tends to run away from couples. This free wedding budget calculator lets you set your total budget, get a suggested breakdown across every part of your day, and then track what you plan to spend against what you actually spend, right in your browser. There is nothing to install and no sign up needed. It was built by Steven Heyns, a KZN wedding DJ with more than 20 years and over 1000 weddings behind the decks.

Enter your total budget and tap Suggest breakdown for a realistic starting point based on how couples typically spend, then make it yours. Every amount is editable, you can rename categories and add your own custom line items, and the running totals update as you type. Log the actual cost and what you have paid for each item, and the tool shows you what is still owed and whether you are under or over budget. Everything saves automatically in your browser so you can come back any time.

Where does the wedding budget go?

As a rough guide, the venue and catering usually take the biggest share of a wedding budget, often close to half, followed by photography and video, flowers and decor, attire, and entertainment. The suggested breakdown in the calculator uses these typical proportions as a sensible starting point, but every wedding is different, so adjust the numbers to match what matters most to you. When you are ready, download a PDF or export to Excel to share with your partner and your suppliers.

Wedding budget calculator FAQs

Is the wedding budget calculator free?

Yes. The budget calculator is completely free to use with nothing to sign up for. Your budget saves in your browser automatically, so you can keep editing it any time on the same device.

How does the suggested breakdown work?

Enter your total budget and tap Suggest breakdown. The calculator fills in a realistic estimate for each category using the proportions couples typically spend, from venue and catering to flowers, attire and entertainment. Every amount stays fully editable.

Can I add my own categories and items?

Yes. Rename any category, add your own custom categories, and add as many line items as you like. Nothing is locked, so you can shape the budget around your day.

Can I track what I have paid?

Yes. Each item has an estimated cost, an actual cost and a paid amount, so you can see your total spend, how much you have paid so far, and exactly what is still owed to your suppliers.

Can I download or export my budget?

Yes. Save as PDF creates a clean summary you can share or print, and Export to Excel gives you a spreadsheet with every category, item and total ready to edit further.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. The calculator works in any modern browser on your phone, tablet or computer, and the Save as PDF button works on mobile too.
